Nowadays, the technology has advanced so much that not even companies can make the proper difference between laptops and notebooks. The one thing they have in common is that they are both used for their mobility, which is in fact essential. Still, there are also other terms which should be discussed when making the difference between these two pieces. Even if the nowadays technology approached the more than in the past years, there are things that should be taken into account, in order to make the proper choice.
So it is that, first of all, a notebook is smaller than a laptop, even if that sounds quite impossible for lots of people. A notebook is a pocket system that can be carried in the bag or even on the arm, without being damaged or overheated. Thus, it is used only for persons who do need high performances such as an awesome mother board or video system which can permit the playing of revolutionary games. Notebooks are mainly for business people who need a permanent access to the internet or to text editing while being away from the bureau or traveling.
On the other hand, in what concerns laptops, these have a performance very similar to that of a desktop computer. They have strong systems, strong processors and a large hard disk which can allow the deposit of lots of information. Mainly, laptops are for persons who need permanent access to internet and multimedia files in any circumstances. The main difference that tears them apart from desktop computers is mobility, a very important element.
Nevertheless, a very important thing which is worth mentioning in what concerns notebooks is the fact that they have a very strong battery. While a normal battery at a laptop lasts about 2 hours, maximum three, depending on the type of activities the laptop does, a notebook’s battery lasts more than six hours. This implicitly allows the continuously development of a certain project while in a business trip without needing electricity and without being interrupt by the need for electricity. This is a very useful thing and it is a very strong characteristic of notebooks.
Still, there is an aspect which many people consider very annoying and disturbing when it comes to notebooks. Unfortunately, they do not dispose of optical drives, which means that they do not have access to CD’s and DVD’s, neither reading them nor burning them. This is a very huge minus if you need something burned very quickly or if you need to develop a project or make a CD presentation. Still, they have USB ports and a memory stick is quite convenient. More, you can you can use an external CD or DVD drive if you want to watch movies or burn files. They are not so expensive and can be used in every circumstance. It can be seen that besides dimension, there are also other things that make the difference between laptops and notebooks, differences which you should consider when making a choice between them.
