What are the differences between a laptop and a desktop?

All the time, people who want to buy a computer always wonder whether to choose a desktop or a laptop.  Still, it must be said that between these two devices it cannot be made a comparison, because each have advantages and disadvantages in relation to someone’s personal needs. Each of them addresses a different class of people with different needs. Some are related to mobility while others to computing power; some stations are graphic, others use the Internet or a text editor. There people interested only in gaming and high video performances and there are people who want to turn their personal computer into a multimedia tool.
Moreover, in what concerns the laptops, it can be said that mobility is vital for those who travel much or whose job involves access to the Internet or permanent work in a text editor. Often, the user pays more than double for a laptop with a configuration similar to a desktop. Even if the difference in prices began to decline, the laptops remain expensive compared to desktops. Lately, laptop manufacturers have announced  a victory, as their sales have surpassed the sales of desktops. Still. they forgot one very important thing, i.e., the fact that the world market has reached a certain level of saturation in terms of desktops, naturally led to a reduction of their sales volume.
So it is that we can speak of differences at first sight when it comes to choosing a laptop or a desktop. Generally, desktop computers and laptops are quite similar, both having the same basic components, software and operating systems. Still, the most important difference consists in the way the components interconnect due to the difference of space. A desktop system includes a motherboard, a video card, a unit of data storage (disk) and other components. The good thing when speaking about a desktop is that the system is properly ventilated and does not easily overheat. On the other hand, a laptop has a smaller size and weight compared to a desktop. Instead of a large box with enough room for air circulation, a laptop uses a flat design, in which all components are created so as to occupy  little space and to perfectly combine. Because of the fundamental differences of design, which define the term of “portability”, its components must fit into a small compact space, compact in order to conserve energy and  to produce less heat than a desktop system components. Still, from what I have noticed, laptops produce much more heat than desktops because their manufacture style does not permit a proper ventilation.
All in all, taking everything into account it can be said that laptops and desktops are very different from each other. I cannot say which is best because none of them is best than the other. They just have different qualities and different aspects that should be taken into account when making a choice.
